As mentioned during the Q & A session for Chris’ presentation on the parasitic divergence (Founding Member Chat; July 31st), the DW interview has been shelved. It’s not the first time something like this has happened; but still, it was surprising. This interview was over two years in the making (testing requirements prevented Chris from flying sooner). He was naturally reluctant; we’d been down the garden path before. He definitely wouldn’t be submitting to any kind of testing or vaccination to fly, and certainly not for pie in the sky! They were going to have to give some assurances.
They pretty much had to beg Chris to fly down there. I can’t tell you how much we didn’t want to go. We pressed them repeatedly for assurances and they unreservedly assured us that all of the decision-makers were on board and the interview would definitely air (and we spoke to them all, except for Mr. BS, but they promised us that he was on board as well). The interview itself could not have gone better; everyone was thrilled.
You can see from the trailer, how happy and excited Michael was with how it turned out. To be honest, I think Michael may be more disappointed than Chris that this never aired. They put an incredible amount of effort into the final product, which everyone agreed was a phenomenal interview and represented some of Chris and Michael’s best work of this type. Then something happened; I’m not sure what, exactly, but I have some ideas. Since they are purely conjecture, I’ll save them for chats. Chris really liked Michael, who obviously had his heart in the project. But this is exactly what happens when you don’t have the backing of the real decision-makers (or even know they exist). I think everyone that worked on this was blind-sided. I think Chris was the only one not really surprised.
The editing took about 6 weeks, and it was just after that when they started stalling, promising that “it is definitely coming out” and it was just a matter of scheduling. Then they stopped communicating and now their official position is, “We have no plans to air it at this time”. When pressed, the producer just repeats that in a kind of Stepford way. We really have no other information. Fortunately, we have our copy.
I’m not mad at the people involved. Everyone we worked with, from Michael and Jeremy to the crew and everyone else, was lovely and very invested in the project. They were also disappointed. They loved Chris and loved his important message, and were thrilled to be able to get his message out. They felt so good about bringing it to the world. In the end, they failed.
All I have to say is Thank God that someone at the Daily Wire shared the unlisted URL at Michael’s YT account with someone who tried to share it in our Facebook group. Our alert moderators immediately deleted it, of course, but that is the backstory of how we got our copy. I don’t think we would have gotten a copy otherwise.
