As a few people know, I’m the subject of a televised interview by noted documentarian Errol Morris.
Errol is a talented interviewer who goes to great lengths to get his subjects to say the most interesting and controversial things. When I say “goes to great lengths”, I mean that he physically confines the subject in a Morris-patented video interrogation device called "the Megatron” and ruthlessly bombards him or her with provocative and cleverly worded questions for many hours on end without food, water, or respite of any kind. (The Megatron evolved from a prior Morris invention called the Interrotron. By now, the contraption may have sprouted a waterboarding attachment; it wouldn't surprise me much.) By applying the electronic alchemy of the video editing console to the nearly endless spools of tape generated by the Megatron, Errol often ends up with exactly what he set out to obtain. In my case, this means that periodically, somebody who has watched Errol’s interview of me grows livid, takes to the Internet, and denounces me for planning to iron-fistedly rule the world.
