The influence of elitists on government naturally ties into the relationship between intelligence and ethical thought and behavior.
I confess that I currently have no knowledge of any definitive studies on the relationship between ethics and human intelligence, and worse, that I haven't really looked. These days, a web search on "intelligence and ethics" is more likely to bring up discussions of unethical tactics on the parts of various police bureaus and other government agencies which collect intelligence (illegal detention, harsh interrogation techniques, torture, and so on). On the other hand, any possible genetic correlation between IQ and ethical awareness is unlikely to command the attention of mainstream psychologists, given academic fears of political incorrectness, while the existence of environmentally dependent correlations is probably taken for granted.
However, despite my ignorance of any relevant statistics, I have my own informal impression of this relationship. In my readings and personal experience, I've noticed that those who are widely regarded as real geniuses or are credited with ultra-high IQ's have usually been more ethical and empathic than average, at least judging from their intellectual productions and available biographical information, whereas those responsible for causing more than their fair share of the world's problems have often had well-above-average but sub-genius-level IQ's...high enough to erect a pretty convincing front and easily get ahead, but not high enough to qualify them as full-fledged, non-borderline geniuses.
