If we’re not careful, we can spend the majority of our waking hours engulfed in a cacophony of toxic noise. Some of us are stuck there now, because of our jobs or because we live in a city. Others are addicted to junk TV or bad music. There’s plenty of both. This kind of immersion in junk noise can be detrimental to the psyche. It may be time to rethink the role of silence in our lives and how to expand it and enjoy it as a readily available tool for comfort and growth.
