The Longevity Research Landscape
What's hot, what's hopeful, and what's old hat.
At some point, human beings will live long enough to live forever. This idea centers on a concept known as Longevity Escape Velocity (LEV). This theory suggests that at some point, medical technology will advance so rapidly that for every year we live, science will extend our remaining life expectancy by more than one year.1
As research has progressed over the past century, the possibility of human immortality has shifted from the realm of fantasy to a quiet possibility. When we achieve LEV, the breakthrough will be more significant and exponentially more disruptive than anything humanity has experienced in millennia.
