The goal of 10,000 steps a day may not be as accurate as once thought. This popular target is based on marketing campaigns for pedometers and may not be suitable for everyone, depending on age and physical function.1 It’s also a goal that may seem daunting to some. We can free ourselves from exercise inertia by letting go of high target numbers and being more creative about how to get our steps in!
